The volcano and THC(A)

As of September the 1st cannabis can be obtained legally in the pharmacies in the Netherlands. However, no good formulation is developed up to now, and everyone uses cannabis in a different way. One of these methods is to smoke cannabis, bus as it is widely known that smoking is bad for your health, this method is not optimal. Recently, a new method had been developed, in which the cannabis can be vaporized, and the volcano is one of the new devices that are developed for this purpose.

As tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), one of the components present in cannabis is proposed to be responsible for a lot of symptoms, it was first investigated to study the behavior of this compound in the volcano device.

First, the experimental set up will be presented, followed by the results that were obtained with the volcano device up to now. These contain especially reproducibility and recovery of THC and THCA, the acidic form of THC, which is (partly) converted to THC under the vaporizing conditions.
